The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support Year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in reading or maths at the end of Key Stage 2 (KS2).
For 2016-2017 academic year our funding allocation was £16,313. This money pays in part towards our Study Centre Manager, who offers additional support to our Year 7 students. The remainder is being used on intervention and additional English and maths support.
In 2015-2016 we received £14,000. We spent £6,600 on salaries associated with maths intervention. The remainder went on PET-Xi, which offers a Maths and English booster programme to help deliver quantifiable impact for Pupil Premium and students working below a level 4c.
Research on the results from students involved in PET-Xi during 2015-2016 show that the majority increased their attainment and progress, by as much as two or three NC fine levels.
