Y Theatre Success

On the 25th and 26th of October, I took part in a show at the Y theatre with an acting group called The Actors’ Studio.

The group of young actors that I worked with ranged from the ages of 12 to 26 and, being the youngest, I learnt a lot from my peers.

Our show was called Bassett, directed by Sarah Ingram, and it was about the war repatriations that used to take place in Wootton Bassett. The show was an hour long, with no interval, and it was set in a classroom. The characters in the play were locked in their citizenship class throughout lunchtime by an unhinged supply teacher and many of the children experienced problems in their lives. The play dealt with a range of things, from sexuality to racism, etc.

I enjoyed being part of the play thoroughly as it gave me a chance to do what I love the most and to learn and meet new people with similar interests to mine. We rehearsed the show for a couple of months, and so it taught me a lot about resilience. As this is one of the Manor high core values, the show, which wasn’t part of the school, was still relevant to my academic career at Manor. I hope to be part of another play soon!
