Janet celebrates 25 years at Manor High

Congratulations to Janet Bee who has clocked up a whopping 25 years as a #ManorHighHero with exemplary service.

Janet is one of Manor High's many unsung heroes. She gets on with the job, from 7.30am, day after day, caring for the pupils and supporting them in the Study Centre and in the classrooms. Going far above and beyond the role is very much in keeping with the #ManorHighWay and contributes significantly to the #MagicofManor.

Janet joined the school as a cleaner and lunchtime supervisor after staying at home while her children, who both went on to attend Manor High, were young. This the lead to becoming a learning support assistant and more recently a teaching assistant.

During her 25 years at the school, she has worked under three headteachers before Mr Powell. She has many fond memories, including the then head, Mrs Major, taking a PE lesson and dancing to Michael Jackson's Thriller.

Janet has supported many children over the years, some who's needs were more challenging than others. As well as helping them in the classroom she has also been on a visits, including a residential trip where she supported a partially-sighted student. She says, "I still see pupils who have now left the school, while I'm out and about. It is really lovely that they will always say hello and have a chat."

She says the biggest changes to the school occurred when Manor High became an academy, and then again more recently, with age-range change. However, throughout all the changes she says, "I have always felt a valued member of staff at Manor High School."

Well done Janet, on this momentous achievement.
