The event, which was organised through www.speakersforschools.org, gave our Year 9 and 10 students from Media Studies and English the opportunity to hear about the world of a news reporter.

Rajiv shared some interesting and exciting stories that he had reported upon, as well as some fascinating insights into the world of journalism. It was clear to the students that each day is never the same. He also spoke about how technology has changed and is likely to change further in the future.

Students were keen to know how his day was organised and how reports are put together; they even got a chance to play around with the camera equipment.

He gave some useful careers advice to students too, informing students of the wide range of career paths open in the media. In particular, he suggested that students seek out opportunities for volunteering experience in the areas of work they are interested in to get a true taste of the working world.

It was a truly inspiring visit that was very much enjoyed by all who attended.
