Friends of Manor High

The Friends of Manor High (FOMH) is the school PTA.

Since the group was set up in 2014, they have gone from strength to strength raising money for the school and arranging social events for students, families and the wider community.

Recent projects that they have funded include supplying furniture for our outside canopy. They are also a welcome sight at our parents' evenings and events, when they sell refreshments, treats and samosas.

FRIENDS OF MANOR HIGH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING NOTICE

Friends of Manor High Annual General Meeting will take place annually.

At this annual meeting we will elect the Committee for the forthcoming year and also make plans for future fund-raising events. Everyone is welcome to attend and we would love to hear your ideas!

If you would like us to send you the meeting link, please email FOMH@manorhigh.leics.sch.uk.  We will reply with the link once the meeting is set up.

For more information of the PTA please check the details below or, to get in touch with the chair, please contact us via FOMH@manorhigh.leics.sch.uk.

Why does Manor have a PTA?

FOMH’s role is to encourage closer links between home and school. PTAs are best known for their fundraising work, but they have a useful social function too. FOMH’s fundraising events provide an opportunity for parents, staff and students to get together.

How is FOMH organised?

Meetings are informal and friendly affairs, where anyone is welcome to attend. The FOMH hold their annual general meeting in September, at the start of the school year. At this meeting a committee is elected to run the PTA – consisting of a chair, a vice-chair, a treasurer, a secretary and ordinary committee members. We welcome new members at any time of the year.

Why do we need fundraising?

Funds raised by FOMH are intended to provide extras not already provided by the school's main income. These can be things that make learning more interesting and exciting or donating towards larger school projects, such as our outdoor canopy.

The PTA committee and the headteacher decide how to spend PTA funds. Money raised can be used for a range of things, such as IT equipment (i.e. cameras, visualisers, computers), sports equipment and larger purchases such as the Manor High School minibus that was part-funded by our PTA.

What events do the PTA run?

There are a number of varied events that the PTA organise for the students, families and community. These include school disco's, a bingo night, the annual summer fair and theatre trips.

How can I be involved in my PTA?

There are many different ways you can help with the PTA, whether you have lots of time to offer or not.

Some of the roles involve committing more time than others, but can be very rewarding. If you can’t commit to a big job, there will be other things you can do less frequently (e.g. running a stall at the summer fair, baking for a cake sale). And you can always support PTA events by simply turning up.
