Author Visit: Matt Beighton

Manor High School was incredibly lucky to welcome Matt Beighton, a Leicestershire based children's author.

On Monday 28th February in celebration with World Book Day (3rd March), Matt spent time with Manor High students. He talked about his background and how he got into writing.

He started out as a school teacher but decided to follow his dream of writing his own children's books. He now combines both careers through his visits to schools, where he can inspire while continuing to work with young minds.

Whilst at Manor, he delivered two assemblies on what motivated him to start writing, whilst also sharing his latest work with the students.  Following this, he carried out four writing workshops with various year groups, providing strategies on how to create engaging plot lines and creating convincing characters, all essential skills in preparation for their GCSE Language paper.
