Dear Families,
This is the first opportunity I have had to wish you all a very happy new year.
We have implemented a significant change this week in moving tutor time to being the first session of the day. This has gone well this week and the students have responded positively to the change. From walking around the school and popping into tutor times, I have spoken to students who have commented that they feel it is much better to have contact with their tutor at the start of the day.
It enables the tutor to check in with their tutees at the start of the day and set them up for the rest of the day, offering any support that is required to ensure that they have a positive day.
Students have been prompt to learning and to tutor time. This has been a real positive. It is important that students are punctual, and please continue to ensure that your child arrives in good time for school starting. We open the school site at 8.05am for students and at 8.35am they should be making their way to lessons and not arriving at school. There are numerous roadworks, traffic lights and closed roads in our vicinity. Please plan these into your journey times.
We have run some additional sessions this week from Ask Apprenticeships today for Year 9 students. If you have a child in Year 9, it would be worth talking with them about alternative pathways and apprenticeships.
Next week we are running some study skills workshops for Year 11 students on Tuesday 16th January in order to prepare them for their second round of PPE exams which will start the week beginning 12th February. Students will receive a timetable over the coming week.
