Dear Families
We are very much back into the swing of things after the Christmas break. Year 11 are preparing for Round 2 of their PPEs that start just before half term and continue after the break. Year 9 and 10 have a series of opportunities over the coming weeks to hear from a range of post 16 options and last night saw an extremely well attended Year 8 parents’ evening.
Today we welcomed Leicester College to speak to Year 10. Next week Year 9 will hear from North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College.
We had planned to have issued our Year 10 reports by now this term. Unfortunately, we have been experiencing a few technical issues that have delayed the publishing of these. We plan that these will be resolved soon and therefore we will be able to get these issued before the end of the half term. We apologise for the delay.
Year 11 are also beginning to think about their Prom at the end of their examinations. A group of students have been to visit some venues, and they have decided upon Shearsby Bath on 20th June 2024. They are now beginning to think about fundraising to pay for additional costs- photographers etc. With this in mind, they have organised a ‘Manor’s Got Talent’ event that is occurring in February. More information is within the newsletter below.
We want to commend the majority of our students who are consistently attending school every day. Despite a few coughs and seasonal colds circulating, their resilience in attending classes and giving their best effort is to be praised. Attendance has a significant impact on academic outcomes, especially in exam years. Even missing one day can negatively affect results, so we appreciate your continued support in prioritising regular attendance. This is particularly relevant at the moment, as there are germs around. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We value your support hugely. With medical appointments, we would urge you please to make these outside of school hours where possible. We appreciate this is not always possible though. Do ensure your child comes to school before an appointment, even if for only an hour, and is then returned to school immediately after their appointment has concluded.
I would also like to take the opportunity to draw parents’ attention to a wonderful opportunity for students. The PE department are organising an Outdoor Activity trip to Plas Gywnant at the end of April. It is a wonderful experience for students in Year 7-9 to take part. To express interest, please see Miss Powell, or any PE teacher. https://www.sandwellresidentials.co.uk/our-centres/plas-gwynant-outdoor-education-centre/ gives you a flavour of the location, which is truly stunning.
