Dear Families
We have witnessed our students excel in various areas this week, not only in their academic pursuits but also in their extracurricular activities. Their passion for learning and personal growth has been truly inspiring, we have seen a range of trips and experiences taken place over the last few weeks, including the Plas Gywnant Multi Sports Trip, Duke of Edinburgh’s expeditions as well as Music and Drama trips. I truly feel that these experiences are critical to the development of our students- they make life long memories on these trips. I am sure I am not alone in still having memories of trips I attended whilst at school. We are keen to ensure the highest academic standards we can, but equally important is developing those softer skills that employers look for that indicate excellence in character as well as academic excellence.
Looking ahead, we are in the planning stages for an upcoming art exhibition that will take place before the end of the academic year. Mr Lansdale and Mrs Watson are nearly ready to launch details for next year's ski trip. These experiences not only foster creativity and teamwork but also create lasting memories that will shape our students' personal and professional journeys. Please keep an eye on your emails for more information.
As we prepare for the upcoming GCSE examinations, we extend our support to our Year 11 students. Their unwavering determination and hard work have been truly commendable, and we have no doubt that they will rise to the occasion and achieve remarkable results. There will be some areas over the next 6 weeks that will not be accessible for students as year 11 sit exams and there may be some changes to timetables also. We will ensure all students in school are aware of these changes and support our Year 11 students in their final weeks. Year 11 parents should note that students are still expected in school throughout the examination period until they complete their final exam. Appointments should not be made during this time and we will require official evidence of appointments in order to authorise any absence. We are changing some lessons to maximise learning time and expect all students to attend as normal. If there is any change to this, you will be informed.
We are also planning rewards trips for the end of term now and would encourage you to keep an eye on your emails for exciting news.
We have been out visiting our primary schools to meet next year's new intake and met many siblings of our current students who are keen to join us. For those parents that it applies to we will be hosting a transition evening on May 23rd for our new families to attend. We have written to those parents and prospective students to remind them of the date and will be looking forward to working with families soon.
Finally, a quick reminder that students return to school after the Bank Holiday weekend on Tuesday and not Monday next week.
Wishing you a lovely bank holiday weekend.
Mr S Greiff
