Careers All Years – Labour Market Information
Just a reminder about this! As part of National Careers Week a week ago now, we gave an assembly that explained Labour Market Information to students. In tutor time, students were also given the opportunity to explore the Labour Market by using the World of Work Leicester and Leicestershire booklet.
This booklet allows students to explore a range of different workplace sectors available here in Leicester and Leicestershire, as well as job examples within these sectors. It also provides information about qualifications and pathways to careers as well as how to apply for jobs and apprenticeships. It is a really useful guide. A link to the guide is attached below. It is a good resource for parents to use to inform themselves about the ever-changing world of work and to help them guide and support our young people. Please look at this resource and look at it with your children too! The link for the electronic copy of the booklet is LLEP WORLD OF WORK LEICESTERSHIRE
Careers assemblies – providers of different options at post 16
This week our Year 10 students heard about the range of different vocational pathways available to them at Gateway College.
It has been great working with our students over the past few months to help them develop their understanding of different pathways and different schools and colleges. We have some more assemblies coming up that will allow our students to gather more information about opportunities available to them for Post 16 education.
Friday 12th April – Year 10 - ASK Apprenticeships
Post 16 Appointments/Interviews
Students are starting to receive offers of places for their Post 16 education. With this, they may be asked to attend meetings/interviews. Please note that if these are in school time you need to contact the school in the same way you would about a medical appointment etc. We will only be able to let students leave the site to attend interviews if parents/carers have informed the school of the meeting beforehand. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Mr Oswin, from Beauchamp College, came to Manor High School this week to speak to a number of year 11 students who have applied to Beauchamp College. He will be back at school on Thursday 21st March. These short meetings allow him to speak with students about their applications.
Year 11 – Beauchamp College Inspiration Evening
We are aware that the Beauchamp College Inspiration Evening is being held on 21st March, which is the same night as our Year 11 Parents' evening.
We have spoken to Beauchamp College about the clash of both events. They have advised that they will understand if students do not attend their event as they know how important a Year 11 parents evening is at this stage in a student's education. We feel it is really important for our students to prioritise parents' evening at this stage in their education and Beauchamp College are in support of this.
Year 11 National Citizen Service Assembly
On Friday 8th March, Year 11 had an assembly about the NCS. Students should look online (use the leaflet they were given last week) to look at the opportunities available to them. If any students are interested in taking part and have any questions, they can come and see Mr Croucher.
