About Us

About the School

Thank you for your interest in our highly successful and popular 11-16 school. We are fully comprehensive and currently welcome girls and boys from Oadby and the surrounding area, particularly from the residential suburbs in the south and east of Leicester.

We are proud to be in the top 1% of schools nationally for progress and the top school for attainment and progress in Leicester and Leicestershire.

Our progress and pathways

Our students make huge progress during their time at Manor High School and this is reflected in both their attainment at the end of their time with us and in their GCSE grades and post-16 routes of progression. Maths and Science are particular strengths and there is a hunger for careers in medicine and related professions. However, we are widening the horizons for all of our students so that they are able to fulfil their potential through the growing range of opportunities in work based learning, vocational pathways and apprenticeships. This is based upon strong careers guidance and a focus on personalised learning and development.

Personalised learning

We know that a school of the right size (around 900 students) provides a focused and personalised learning environment in which each individual can thrive. We know the parents, the children and their community well and they know us. This means we are well placed to support the children through the vital years leading up to options and GCSEs. The continuous journey from age 11-16 enables us to develop each individual and support learning with lots of encouragement and challenge. For this reason, we have many of our learners undertaking high level tasks at GCSE level and beyond long before they reach Year 10.

Inspiring learning

We are a very academic and high achieving school but part of our challenge is to ensure that learning is fun. When children are able to enjoy themselves and be creative, the learning does not seem like hard work and the results are outstanding. The arts and sport are very important to our school. There are many opportunities for enrichment and to learn outside the classroom through plenty of after school activities and residential trips to enhance the learning experience. We are outward looking and enterprising but we also pride ourselves on traditional values of respect, hard work, support, care, aspiration and challenge. We are a listening school and we work closely with our Student Council and act upon feedback from all stakeholders including parents, students and the community.

Visit our school

We welcome visitors during the school day at all times of the year and these can be booked easily through our website. Once people see the love of learning being shared by staff and students, they gain a sense of the feel of Manor High School. This is usually the decisive factor in choosing our happy and thriving school.

Our Core Values of Excellence, Inspiration, Respect and Resilience were chosen by staff, parents, governors and, of course, the children who are at the heart of everything we do at Manor High.

Our location

We are fortunate to have all of the benefits of a city which boasts two leading universities, museums, art galleries, concert halls, theatres and arenas of sporting excellence in rugby, football, cricket and basketball to name just a few. At the same time, we benefit more than most schools, from our desirable location on the edge of the beautiful countryside in southern and eastern Leicestershire.

Manor High is well connected to surrounding areas and to the city through good transport links. We are a short distance from the A6 and, along with our own school transport, there is a frequent bus service immediately outside the school.
