Additional Funding

In addition to the general annual grant for academies, Manor High School, or their students, can receive other types of funding. These are:

Pupil Premium

The pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the gaps between them and their peers.

Given to schools by the Department for Education (DfE), the Premium is allocated to schools based on the number of children who are known to have received Free School Meals (FSM) in the last six years, those who are or have been in care for a period of six or more months and children of members of Her Majesty’s Forces.

The Government states, ”It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium, allocated to schools per FSM pupil, is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.” Source: DfE Website.

The Pupil Premium funding is provided to raise the achievement between pupil premium students and their peers, as well as being offered financial assistance for activities and resources which can most impact their learning.

Pupils at Manor High eligible for the Premium

At Manor High, Pupil Premium pupils can be found at all ability levels and are encouraged and enabled to perform as well as their peers.

We use the Pupil Premium money to help with uniform, essential school trips and learning support.

NB. The reporting requirements for Pupil Premium have changed recently. The new 3-year plan is below. If you would like any updated information in the meantime, please contact our Deputy Headteacher, Vanessa Mehta.

Free School Meals

In England a free school meal is a statutory benefit available to school aged children from families who receive other qualifying benefits and who have been through the relevant registration process.

We are keen to encourage all eligible families to take up their entitlement to free school meals.

Even if you do not wish to access the actual free school meals, this will still qualify your child’s school for additional Pupil Premium funding.

This means that more money comes to the school to provide extra support, interventions or financial help with educational activities such as trips or booster classes.

We are committed as a school to ensuring that all pupils achieve their full potential and so it is important that all pupils who qualify for pupil premium funding take up this entitlement. Our school meals are cashless and so there is no identification to other pupils of who is accessing this provision.

If you get any of the following support payments your child may be entitled to receive free school meals:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit Run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Children who receive a qualifying benefit in their own right are also allowed to receive free school meals. Children under the compulsory school age who are in full time education may also be entitled to receive free school meals.
