Headteacher’s Update
Dear Families
We have started to increase our enrichment offer for our students this week- in areas that we must ensure that students are upskilled. We are fortunate to have been able to access a programme sponsored by the Market Harborough Building Society that supports students’ mental health and their financial literacy. They will be working with Year 10 students this year and this week we had the first visit from an organisation called WizeUp who work with students to improve their financial literacy and to teach them about employability skills. There will be more to come over the coming academic year for Year 10. In addition we have run TellMi workshops for our Year 7s and 8s this week focussing on Digital Awareness, and helping students to have a healthier online experience. They found about the power of the digital algorithm, and how to access support online. We will widen this also to other year groups as the year progresses.
These workshops all add to the experience students have at school. School is not just about results, it is also about creating excellent people and we strive to help students be prepared for life beyond secondary school.
Finally, a polite reminder- it does seem that unfortunately the warm weather is behind us now and it is becoming more autumnal. With that in mind you may be turning your attentions to the purchase of coats and jackets for the winter. I remind parents of our uniform expectations with a link to them to be found here Uniform – Manor High School – Oadby Do please remember that hoodies are not permitted in school.
With best wishes
Mr S Greiff
Year 7
From Monday 21st September Year 7 will be follow the same times as the rest of the school. Year 7 have made a good start to their time at Manor High School. Keep it up!
All Years – Lunch Queueing Times
Please can parents and carers remind students of our queuing times. We need all students to follow these and to queue at the correct times as this helps everyone at lunchtime. Staff are reminding students in school. Students should not queue until their allotted time.
Next week is week A.
Week A:
Year 7 and 8 can queue from 13:05 (no other year groups queuing for indoor or outdoor hatches)
Year 9 and 10 can queue from 13:15
Year 11 can use the food hatch near humanities. Year 11 can then join the other queues if needed at 13:20, no earlier!
Week B:
Year 9 and 10 can queue from 13:05 (no other year groups queuing for indoor or outdoor hatches)
Year 7 and 8 can queue from 13:15
Year 11 can use the food hatch near humanities. Year 11 can then join the other queues if needed at 13:20, no earlier!
Open evening
Next Thursday is our open evening and so many students have volunteered to help. We cannot accommodate everyone, but we are grateful for so many volunteers. Please can you reinforce that only students who have received an email from the school can stay and help at open evening (these emails will have been sent to parents/carers in order to gain consent). We are always grateful for our students’ help and support on this evening.
Charity Cycle Ride: Munich to Vienna
We’re incredibly proud of Mr Daud, who recently completed an incredible 450-mile charity cycle ride from Munich to Vienna in just five days!
His challenging route took him through Alpbach, Salzburg, Linz and Mariazell, before finally reaching Vienna. Along the way, he was rewarded with breathtaking scenery, including stunning mountain backdrops, crystal-clear lakes and unforgettable views.
After such an incredible challenge, it’s safe to say Mr Daud won’t be rushing back onto a saddle anytime soon! 😅
A huge thank you to everyone who supported Mr Daud and donated to this fantastic cause. Donations are still welcome using the link below:

Year 10 Farm Visit
Year 10 Art & Design students enjoyed a visit to a local dairy farm this week as part of their Natural Forms project.
They took photographs and produced outdoor observational sketches of the animals and surrounding environment, gathering valuable primary research to develop their GCSE artwork.
Safeguarding Update
This week our Year 7 and 8 students have been part of a Tellmi workshop. Tellmi is an NHS funded service that offers free, safe and anonymous peer and counsellor support to young people aged 11+.
The goal for the workshop is for students to feel empowered and leave with actionable tips to help them create a healthier online experience.
Points covered include:
- The algorithm trap: Recognising that their feed is curated, and how this can lead to bias and impact their mood.
- The signs of digital fatigue: Identifying signs of emotional overload caused by excessive screen time and the dopamine cycle.
- How to curate a healthier feed: Learn practical steps to actively control and diversify the content they see and engage with.
- How to prioritise mental health online: Understand the negative effects of comparison culture and discover how to use the internet for support in a safe manner.
- How to access safe support online: Know how to use moderated, anonymous platforms like Tellmi when they need help and safe advice.
