Headteacher’s Update
Dear Families,
What a week we have had this week. We have been incredibly busy and it has been such a week to be proud of, with our students, your children, doing us proud!
Last night, we held our Annual Awards Evening, a special occasion that allowed us to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our pupils. It wasn’t just about academic excellence we also recognised those who have grown as individuals over the past year in all years from Year 7 to Year 11. It’s these personal journeys, the development of character and resilience, that often leave the most lasting impact.
Speaking of character, we’re currently in the midst of an exciting election process for our student leadership team. Our Year 11 pupils have been delivering their manifestos in assemblies throughout the week, pitching their ideas and vision to their peers. The courage and determination displayed as they stand before their peers is truly inspiring. It takes real resilience to put yourself out there, to articulate your thoughts and ambitions in front of an audience. I couldn’t be prouder of their efforts and the maturity they’ve shown throughout this process.
As we move into the cooler months, I’d like to take a moment to remind everyone about our uniform policy. ‘Hoodies’ are not part of our school uniform and will be confiscated by tutors if worn. Please ensure your child is appropriately dressed for school, bearing in mind the changing weather conditions.
I hope you’ve had a chance to read the correspondence sent earlier this week regarding our recent OFSTED report. If you haven’t yet seen the report, you can find it on our website here https://www.manorhigh.leics.sch.uk/about-us/ofsted/ .
I’ve been really grateful for the positive feedback and kind words from many of you over the past few days. Your support and appreciation mean a great deal to us.
Looking ahead, our open mornings are now in full swing, and we’re eagerly anticipating our open evening on 26th September. If you know of anyone who might be interested in joining our wonderful school, please do spread the word. We’d be delighted to welcome prospective pupils and their families to experience first hand what Manor High is all about. Further information is here Admissions – Manor High School – Oadby
Thank you for your continued support and engagement. We look forward to another busy week next week!
Wishing you a lovely weekend.

Year 7 Timings
To help our Year 7 get used to routines in and around school, we have amended their school day slightly. We will continue with the early break and lunch time for one more week. Please remember that we are no longer taking year 7 out of session 3 at 3.00pm, they will be taken out of their lesson at 3:05pm with everyone else.
Year 7 Session one: finish at 10:35am and go out to break early.
Year 7 Session two: finish at 12:30pm and go out to lunch early.
Year 7 Session 3: finish at 3:05pm.
Year 10 Work Experience
In the next few weeks we will be sending out information to do with work experience for our Year 10 students.
Please note that although year 10 will be engaging with work experience during the last week of the academic year, we will be sending out information and applications forms in the next few weeks. We will also set a deadline for these forms to be with us. This deadline is set by the LEBC* to ensure all paperwork can be processed and placements can be coordinated.
*LEBC – the company who coordinate work experience for us to ensure all placements during school time are safe and appropriate for our students.
Year 11 1:1 Careers Meetings
This is a reminder that each year we offer all of our Year 11 students a 1:1 careers meeting with a Level 6 Careers Advisor. Our careers advisors work for MyPath which is a team that solely focus on career education.
This year we are spreading careers interviews over a longer period than usual.
Our next date for 1:1 sessions is Monday 17th September.
Year 11 tutors have informed students of when their booking is. These sessions will help our Year 11’s think about their futures as well as help them with the Post 16 decision process. More information about the Post 16 process will come out soon.
Year 11 – Post 16
We have created a list of open events at local Post 16 providers (schools and colleges). Please note this list covers a lot of providers but not all of them. We advised that all students should look at a range of different providers to help them make a more informed decision about where they will apply next year. We have sent this list of open events to students via class charts as well. Please click the link below to view the information.
We will be in touch in the next few weeks about the Post 16 application process.
Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Department Update
We are pleased to inform you that the SEND team has appointed a deputy SENDCO Mrs Isherwood, who is new to the school as well as two new Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs), Mr Hings and Mrs Ayres, who have been appointed to provide Special Educational Needs (SEN) interventions, following a graduated approach.
At present, we are assessing students and finalising timetables for the intervention groups. Once the groups are confirmed, the timetables will be shared with parents and carers. Please be assured that all group interventions will take place during the school day, and there will be no changes to these timetables once established.
Thank you for your continued patience and support.
Toilet Passes
Please be aware that toilet passes are only issued to the few students who have a medical need to have free access to the toilets, ensuring they are able to go at any point during the lesson. Medical evidence will be required.
