Mr Powell said "It will be a long day and our coffee machines and kettles will be a lot quieter than usual! However, we did this last year and it amused our Muslim pupils to see so many staff members managing a day without food or drink. It led to a great sense of mutual appreciation."  

One staff member, who is observing the whole month of Ramadan, kindly brought in a number of delicious Asian snacks for Mr Powell to enjoy when he broke his fast.
