MFL News

We have loved hearing from our students during lockdown and the MFL staff are all here to support you with your home learning.

To keep our students and their parents updated during lockdown, we are posting videos and key messages on our Twitter account, @ManorHighMFL. You don't have to have a Twitter account to view them, so they are accessible to all.

KS3 home learning

KS3 home learningKS3 French and Spanish students have now been using Pearson e-books to facilitate their home learning for the past four weeks. A detailed guide of how to access the correct e-book for your year group is attached with each lesson on SMHW; students should be completing 2 lessons per week. Answers are also provided for each lesson so that students can assess their work and track their progress each week.

KS4 home learning

KS4 home learningKS4 French and Spanish students have been provided with a minimum of two hours’ learning each week and lessons are building on prior learning.  Each lesson is now narrated by students’ own class teachers who provide modelled examples of tasks to be completed and detailed explanations of each learning point; simply click on the speaker icon on each slide. In addition, students have been set listening and reading tasks to complete using their unique Pearson Active Learn login details.

Easter enrichment activities

We were delighted to see how many students embraced the opportunities that we suggested on SMHW to learn more about French and Spanish culture over Easter; we had some fantastic entries for our European Bake Off competition who not only won valuable house points for their houses in the race for the House Cup, but also received generously donated £5 Zeph’s café vouchers.

Other students have also been experimenting with the recipes that we provided to produce some tasty meals for their families. We have also received some impressive project work exploring Mexico’s El día de los muertos festival from Riya in Y8.
