European Day of Languages Fun!

In celebration of the European Day of Languages, the department ran two fun events.

Firstly, there was an Escape Room competition where students had to solve the clues in each classroom, which were all related to language learning, in order to access the escape code.

Every student who entered was awarded three achievement points and their names were put forward for a prize draw. There was a prize of a £10 Amazon voucher for first place and house points have been awarded as follows:

  • 1st place: Marley Reid (Watermead)
  • 2nd place: Zak Vara (Knighton)
  • 3rd place: Dipinder Singh (Knighton)
  • 4th place: Umar Salah (Bradgate)

Secondly, on Monday 28th September, with the help of our superb kitchen staff, we offered a French and Mexican inspired menu.

Students were able to purchase croissants and pains au chocolat at break, and croque-messieurs and nachos at lunch.

The European Day of Languages was created in 2001 to celebrate linguistic diversity in Europe and promote language learning. Since then it has grown to be an annual event celebrated on 26th September each year.
